The LifeLink No Monthly Fee Emergency Medi Alert System...
... works anywhere there is a telephone line. When you set the system up, simply connect your LifeLink medi alert system to a telephone jack, set the pre-recorded message, enter the emergency contact telephone numbers, and run some tests. It's as simple as that, and our simplicity is one of our consistent compliments from past customers.
Then, if you've fallen and need help to get up, or you are experiencing some other medical emergency in which you cannot get to the phone to call for help, all you need to do is the press the pendant alert panic button. The medi alert response system will then sound a 65 decibel siren as it simultaneously begins calling the emergency phone numbers that you've programmed into it - local numbers, long distance numbers, even 911 if you'd like (except in California and Illinois). LifeLink medical alert phone system runs off of regular AC power and uses a 9-volt battery as a backup in case of a power failure.
To more fully describe the process, let's take an example from the perspective of the medi alert system owner. Let's assume that you own a LifeLink® and you are by yourself at home. You've gone through the 15-minute setup process, and the following emergency phone numbers have been programmed to be called once you press the panic button if you have experienced a medical emergency:
- your son
- your daughter
- your next-door neighbor
- 911 (except in California and Illinois)

Now, we'll assume that you've fallen in the kitchen and can't get up. You press the "Emergency" button on the pendant alert. The pendant, using proprietary wireless technology, signals the Console, which (we'll assume) has been installed in the TV room. The Console then does two things at once: 1) it sounds the 65 decibel alarm on the base unit/Console, and it also starts calling the emergency phone numbers. In the example, based on the order of calling, LifeLink will call your son first. If there's no answer, or it's answered but a 0 keypress isn't received, the medi alert response system will automatically move to the next number - your daughter. Then, if needed, your next door neighbor, the third number. If there's still no answer in which the 0 key is pressed, the response system calls your fourth number - 911 emergency services (except in California and Illinois). The process repeats completely if all four numbers are called and there's still not a 0 keypress.
The people to be called in the event of an emergency can be right next door, on the other side of town, or even clear across the country. LifeLink is capable of calling local or long distance numbers as well. If the call is handled by, let's say, your son across the country, he can call someone local to you, or if needed, he can call his own 911 and have the call dispatched through the 911 internal network to your local 911.

So, now that you have some background information on how the system works, let's go through an actual call process. Let's assume your son (first on the list) answers the call for help. He will hear the Console playing your pre-recorded message on his phone - something like:
"Myrtle Smith at 2 Sherman Road has had an emergency and needs help. Please press 0 to listen in".
Your son will press the "0" key on his phone. LifeLink will detect this tone and will then silence the medical alert phone siren on the Console. It will then activate the sensitive microphone on the Console. You can then describe the problem and your son will be able to hear you (please note that it's a one-way speaker phone). He will then hang up and, as part of our recommended procedure, he will place a confirmation call back to you. This confirmation call further assures you that help is on the way. If you happen to have an answering machine, though not required, he may wish to leave a message over your answering machine that says something like "Mom, I received your call for help, and I'm on my way. I'll be there in 10 minutes". Your answering machine, using the "call screening" functionality that we are all familiar with, will allow you to hear him leaving his message. As noted above, your son can alternatively alert the fire, police, ambulance, hospice care, or whatever the identified resolution procedure.
At this point, LifeLink has done its job. Help will quickly be on its way. Unlike competing medical alert device products, because you're not subscribing to a monitoring service, medi alert / pendant alert systems, you pay ONLY a one-time purchase fee with the LifeLink medi alert system. There will be no monthly fees, ever again! This is a first in the industry!
Summary:
- Pressing the panic button triggers the Console to instantly call up to four people that you've programmed during setup.
- A siren sounds within the home of the person in distress.
- The person answering the call can listen in to the home to determine the nature of the medical problem.
- Help will quickly be on its way!
- Note that the medical pendant alert is water-resistant so that it can be worn in the bath or shower.
Notifying family and friends rather than an impersonal monitoring station in the event of an emergency...
...that's the personal nature of the LifeLink® system. We feel this is a more personal solution, because, with a corporate monitoring service that you've likely been talking with and/or have read about, studies have shown that users may feel inhibited about setting the system off, not wanting to feel like they are "bothering" the monitoring service personnel for what they may evaluate to be a minor problem. However, an incorrect assessment about the seriousness of the problem could lead to a catastrophic situation. With LifeLink®, your family and friends (and 911 if you wish) provide your monitoring service. With these familiar people, inhibitions about pressing the medi alert pendant alert panic button are gone, lives are saved, and the safety of our seniors is assured.
Internal studies at our company, Matrix Interactive LLC, show that we are quickly converting previous monthly-fee customers over to our system as contracts expire. This is happening not only because of the fact that monthly fees are eliminated, but also because the user feels more comfortable pressing the button knowing that the call (which can at times be a very private situation) will go to people that know, love, and care for them instead of a set of strangers at an impersonal monitoring center.
The LifeLink® medi alert system is highly-recommended by doctors, hospitals, hospice care healthcare facilities, nurse associations, senior resources professionals, and senior services organizations that specialize in help from senior falls.
Please consider giving us a try. We are confident that you'll be glad you did.
